How Modelstan Came to Be

Years of conflict, instability and imposed terrorism have drastically depressed the people of Afghanistan and have created a negative image of the country round the globe. Despite losing our beloved citizen in coward terrorist attacks, our brave soldiers in the battlefield and losing everything after the fall of government, several responsible, motivated and talented youths and artists have come together to change the darkness of this scenario for the better brighter one.

They have gathered under the umbrella of Modelstan to tirelessly work to demonstrate the new image of the country to the world. They want to enlighten the hearts of Afghans with rays of hope and to show the world that Afghanistan is potential enough to rise again.

Under the esteemed guidance of Hamed Valy, Modelstan was established in November 2019 as the first fashion agency in Afghanistan. He attracts inspiring and talented Afghan models and professionally train them, help them create a portfolio and introduce them to the local and global stages.

Why We are Restarting

Modelstan organized its first audition on 26th December 2019 where 15 female and 45 male models participated. The second audition with a professional fashion show was held on Valentine’s Day, 14th February 2020. Mr. and Miss Valentine 2020 went worldwide, and you can find articles with different languages written about how Afghanistan celebrated valentine through fashion. Modelstan held its third and the biggest event called “The Warriors Event” on 18th August 2020 that was the 101st Independence Day Afghanistan at the Darlaman palace in front of the president of Afghanistan. Modelstan also organised Miss Afghanistan in the same year 2020 and introduced Miss Afghanistan three decades, 19-year-old Negara Sadat is Miss Afghanistan 2020-21.

After the event, the entire agency was threatened by the Taliban and since the resurgence of Taliban, we shut down the company and had to flee the country. We are glad that the government of Germany have given us this opportunity to restart here in berlin.

We believe our new project can support the women of Afghanistan by not only helping them be themselves but also empowering them by giving them the platform for showing their talents and be a voice for themselves and the women of Afghanistan.

Owner

In 2019 Hamed Valy founded the very first fashion agency in Afghanistan called “Modelstan”. Under his supervision, Hamed Valy directs modelstan and trains models professionally and introduces them to the local and global market.

Hamed Valy is a global citizen, and an international fashion choreographer, actor, model and model trainer with a decade of experience in the fashion industry in India, Afghanistan and Germany.
